Ray Fuller and the Blues Rockers by Brad Simmons

Ray Fuller and the Blues Rockers from New Albany Ohio

Ray Fuller was given his first guitar at the age of 8, a Gibson Melody Maker.  At an early age, Fuller was inspired by the British Invasion; Rolling Stones, Yardbirds and the Animals bands.  Fuller’s first Blues album he ever heard was John Mayall and the Blues Breakers featuring Eric Clapton.  “I could tell good blues guitar when I heard it…it was different.” Ray Fuller and the Blues Rockers at the Kentucky State BBQ Festival – read more…

Ray Fuller’s passion for the Blues was fueled with the discovery of the original Blues greats; John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, BB King, Elmore James.  Young Ray Fuller was especially fond of John Lee Hooker.

The Ray Fuller Band was formed in 1974, evolving into Ray Fuller and the Bluesrockers in 1978; releasing a self titled album on vinyl and Fuller has not looked back since.  Mastering his craft throughout the 80’s and 90’s,  Fuller was quick to become the “go to act” throughout Ohio to open for iconic Blues musicians such as Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and Albert Collins to name a few.

MUDDY WATERS after witnessing an opening act performance by Ray Fuller on slide guitar exclaimed for all to hear “That was some hot slide boy! I could smell the smoke backstage!

Eldon Huff at the Kentucky State BBQ Festival by Brad Simmons

Eldon Huff will be at the Kentucky State BBQ Festival performing from 6:00-7:30pm on Friday, September 8th, 2017.  Check out a demo of his music here:

About Eldon Huff

Country, Rockin’ Soul.
2 critically acclaimed albums released.
Former guitarist for Eric Church, Keith Anderson, Joss Stone, Derek St. Holmes ( of Ted Nugent and Whitford / St. Holmes), and more.

At a time in the music industry when gimmicks and multi-million dollar stage productions often overshadow the music, Eldon Huff keeps it simple and straight to the point with a no frills approach. Born and raised in Harlan, KY, he began his career at just 12 years old playing in a house band at a local V.F.W. Throughout his teens he honed his skills in the dive bars and honky-tonks of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia. In one short year after his move to Nashville in 2004, Music Row quickly recognized him as a serious “Triple Threat”. Eldon Huff at the Kentucky State BBQ Festival.

Eldon Huff is an ace guitarist with a soulful voice filled with honesty and conviction, matched with down home lyrics and a stage presence all his own. Record labels and publishers soon started calling and he eventually settled into a deal with Sony ATV. During his 3 years at Sony, he and his band stayed on the road playing nearly 200 shows a year, building and maintaining a loyal fan base. In 2010 Huff went back on the road, as lead guitarist and background vocalist, for country artist Eric Church. The time spent as a sideman on a major tour inspired Huff to search a little deeper for his own voice as an artist.

“I learned more in the time in Eric’s band than I had in my entire career. I have a ton of respect for those guys and what they allowed me soak up from them.”  After a bittersweet departure from the Eric Church band he set out to make a straight up rock and roll record, as the Eldon Huff Band. The power trio’s release, “Hellfire and Heartaches”, gained some critical success and respect from members of the classic rock community. In 2014 he found himself back to writing and producing tracks for a new country release.

“I’m back to doing what brought me to Nashville, writing great country songs and playing them to the best of my ability. I’m looking forward to making a new record and playing these songs for the fans.”  From his humble beginnings in Kentucky to the stage of the Grand Ol’ Opry and now the small screen, making cameo appearances on the ABC hit show Nashville. “I’m doing things I never thought I’d do. Like Nashville. How did that happen? I’ve stood on the stage of the Opry twice now with my buddy Andy Griggs and man what a feeling that was. It just made me even more hungry for a chance to play there as an artist and stand on that sacred circle.”  A journey that is far from over and a new chapter that will no doubt bring the success he’s worked hard for. The future looks bright for Eldon Huff.  Eldon Huff will be at the Kentucky State BBQ Festival performing from 6:00-7:30pm on Friday, September 8th, 2017.  Check out a demo of his music here.

Walker Montgomery at the KY State BBQ Festival by Brad Simmons

Walker Montgomery will be performing from 8:30-10:00 pm on Friday, September 8, 2017.  See the whole music schedule here!

Walker Montgomery

One of the biggest country music stars of the 1990’s was John Michael Montgomery. With timeless hits such as “I Swear” and “I Love The Way You Love Me,” Montgomery secured his place in country music as the ultimate balladeer.

Now it looks as if Montgomery’s 18-year old son is following in his dad’s footsteps. Walker Montgomery first wowed the internet a few months ago with his stunning cover of his dad’s debut single, “Life’s a Dance.” It was apparent that the talented teen had not only inherited his father’s famous dimples, but his smooth voice as well.

Now Walker is making waves with a new video in which he covers “Life’s a Dance.”  The video below shows father and son performing at Freedom Hall at the KY State Fair.  Walker delivers a flawless acoustic cover that would have made Keith Whitley proud.

Ben Lacy performing at the KY State BBQ Festival by Brad Simmons

Ben Lacy will be performing at the KY BBQ Festival from 3:00-4:30 on Saturday, September 9th, 2017.  Read to the bottom to see a LIVE demo of Ben playing on stage in Nashville.  See the entire music schedule here!

About Ben Lacy

Ben Lacy will be performing at the KY State BBQ Festival

Ben first started to play guitar around age 7.  He had one “lesson” with a classical instructor. This instructor got mad when Ben told him that he was out of tune.  That was the end of Ben’s formal education, he has been self-taught ever since.

Ben has played locally in his hometown of Lexington, Kentucky with many bands, ranging in styles from jazz/funk to dance to metal.  Around 2000, Ben became a solo act, but still enjoys a duet with Bob Bryant, bass extraordinaire.  The duo has had the honor of opening for Tower of Power twice in Kentucky.  Outside of Kentucky Ben has performed around North America and in Europe.

Ben Lacy’s Music Experience

Ben has performed with musician greats such as Al Di Meola, Larry Coryell, George Duke, Joey DeFrancesco and Phil Keaggy.  He has shared the bill with Frank Gambale and Tommy Emmanuel.  He has played with Sting’s guitarist, Dominic Miller, in London, England.  Ben did some session work with Scotty Anderson for a 9/11 tribute.    Ben has also played in tribute shows to Chet Atkins and Les Paul.  In July 2003, Ben had the honor of literally handing Les Paul his lifetime achievement award at Muriel Anderson’s All Star Guitar Night at the historic Ryman Auditorium.  Another particular honor has been meeting one of his guitar heroes, Steve Morse.

Ben’s solo CD “One Track Mind”  was reviewed by Downbeat Magazine in March 2003.  “To mere mortals it might seem that there’s a twosome going at it.  Lacy’s impressive technique is built upon complex slapping, hammer-ons, and rhythmically devised chord progressions.”  Ben was also called “a true multitasking machine” in the same article.

The February 2007 issue of Guitar Player Magazine named Ben as one of the Top 101 Forgotten Greats & Unsung Guitar Heroes.  20th Century Guitar’s August 2006 issue had a 2-page article about Ben.  Following is an excerpt.  “About once a decade, a new guitar talent comes along that knocks this writer out.  It was like that when I first saw and heard Michael Hedges.  So musical, so unique.  Same with Stanley Jordan. Four years ago, I met the newest killer guitarist at a California NAMM Show.  My first encounter with Ben Lacy was literally thrilling.  He was incorporating multiple techniques into a truly musical blend.  There were chords with bass lines.  There was melody and horn lines.  All done simultaneously and above all, there was a rhythmic sense few have attained.  A constant groooooove that propelled the music.  And I was blown away when he added the drum solos…ON GUITAR STRINGS?  Ben Lacy has done what few guitarists have done in history.  Not just digest the styles of the past.  Ben has raised the bar a notch.  Maybe two.”

In 2011, Ben headlined alongside guitar greats Dick Dale and Jimmie Vaughan in The LA Guitar Festival.  In November 2013, Ben had the pleasure to open for Blues Traveler and perform “La Grange” with John Popper. Ben has also recently opened for Kenny Wayne Shepard, Victor Wooten, Tom Keifer, Shooter Jennings, Leon Russell, and Bret Michaels. He has performed in the Long Beach Jazz Fest with drummer, Alan McKenzie. In 2015, Ben has appeared at the Nashville Guitar Festival, The International Guitar Summit, and opened for 80’s Rock w/Dokken, Firehouse, and Trixter. In October 2015, Ben performed in The Breeders Cup Festival in Lexington, KY.

About the Avery Glenn Crabtree Band

“The band and myself love putting our own spin on just about every cover song we do. Improvisation, is what we have the most fun with! Sometimes during a live show (drummer)Donnie Parker will take off on a beat, then (bassist) Scottie Mclease starts in with a groove then, I come in on my tele with a rhythm. I’ll start making up words and then we make up a song, live on stage! Very unique experience to have musicians that can go wherever your creative urges want to during a live performance!”
